Description

Special Olympics WA – Unified Playing for All Program

Unified Playing for All is a fun, inclusive, games-based movement and sport program for children and young people with and without intellectual disability and/or autism.

Designed especially for home-educated students, sessions run during school hours in a relaxed, supportive environment where children can move, play, learn, and make friends together.

Rather than focusing on competition, Unified Playing for All is all about participation, confidence, teamwork, and enjoying being active. It is perfect for children who are new to sport, prefer a gentle introduction to physical activity, or thrive in a small, supportive group setting.

Playing for All – Games Sense Approach

Playing for All uses a Games Sense approach, meaning children learn through fun, game-based activities rather than repetitive drills.

Sessions focus on developing foundational movement skills, building confidence, and improving physical literacy in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Coaches adapt all activities to suit each child’s abilities so everyone can participate and feel successful.

Basketball for All – Beginner Basketball

Basketball for All is a beginner program that also uses a Games Sense approach.

Children learn basketball through fun, game-based activities while developing basic skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork.

For those looking to progress, coaches will introduce basketball-specific skills and drills at an appropriate pace.

Session Guidance – All Ages Welcome

Both Playing for All sessions are open to all ages.

Where possible, we encourage children under 7 to attend the 10:00am session.

Some activities in later sessions may be more challenging; however, coaches will continue to adapt activities to suit each child’s abilities.
