SPEED 速度

After a string of successful and fun events, SPEED has made the Sub Club basement its home turf. Returning Friday August 19th (11 PM -☀️), SPEED is ready to create another night of fun, fast, furious and frantic electronic dance music as it announces its first-ever international headline act, Xuri (DNK).

" Through a soundscape of fast-paced throbbing beats, alongside ghostly entities and modern-classical sound, Xuri, the alias of Susanne Benther Mouritsen has explored and expanded her field of practice over many new frontiers of sound, visual and VR. A utilisation of music that explores the potential of ceremonial engagement, Xuri enters the shadows of imaginary space and dwells in the spring of creation. 

Her use of rave aesthetics and hazy hallucinatory sound imagery has mutated into a hard-hitting techno project as Parietal Eye on Mama Snake’s Amniote Editions label makes her a perfect match made in heaven for a late winter's night down in the darkness of sub club’s basement. " 

SPEED is so very excited to see how Xuri responds to its call and we want you all to be there together to experience it with us. 

Joining Xuri for the night will be local heavyweights Cloudy Ku, Eek, Hasvat Informant and Moopie. Both Cloudy Ku and Hasvat Informant have released music alongside Xuri on Amniote Editions, with this event acting as a little bit of a label family get together in the hardest way possible. Joining the family to bring the SPEED is none other than everyone's favourite DJ Moopie and eek, who will not only be on visuals for the event but also playing an extra special b2b set with Cloudy Ku to round out this absolute dream lineup that will need to be seen to be believed.

- 10% of all Pre-Sale tickets sold to any SPEED event will be donated to a charity of choice. For this event, we have chosen to donate toward a recently created gofundme page in support of Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Centre (VUFKU), a film archive centre in Kyiv, Ukraine. Many of the centre's leading figures were imprisoned or executed as Stalin suppressed the Ukrainian national revival in the 1930s. Ukraine and its culture are under attack again and the Centre's archive and work are in peril, despite its important contribution to Ukrainian and world cinema the Centre has always been under-funded and the Russian invasion has left it unable to pay its staff, protect its unique archive, and continue to operate. Any donations will help it to survive until this dreadful period is over.Read more about it here

SPEED places a great emphasis on safety and takes all matters involved seriously. Any behaviour that is Anti-social, Discriminatory or unsolicited will not be tolerated and will result in the individual being forced to leave the party.

Disability: Sub club is down two flights of stairs, however wheelchair entry is available via elevators at the request of security. The night will contain dark lighting and haze, no strobing effects will be used. Please be in touch if you have any specific access requirements.
