ABOUT EMILY

Australian-American harpist Emily Granger has performed around the world as Guest Principal Harp with the Chicago, Sydney and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Orchestra Victoria, and Opera Australia Orchestra and given chamber recitals at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, Sydney Opera House Utzon Room and UKARIA. Since moving from the United States in 2015, she has firmly established herself in the Australian music scene, both in the concert hall and in the studio, with a busy schedule as a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician. ABOUT TIM

Tim Munro is a Brisbane-based, triple-Grammy-winning musician. As flautist, writer, broadcaster, and teacher, he treats audiences as equals, welcoming them into musical worlds with passion, intelligence and humor. He is Associate Professor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, in Brisbane, Australia.

Tim was the flautist and co-Artistic Director of Eighth Blackbird from 2006-2015. He toured the US and internationally, premiering more than 100 works, co-curating festivals, playing as a concerto soloist, collaborating with artists that ran the gamut and winning three Grammy Awards. Eighth Blackbird sought engaging, stimulating musical experiences that drew audiences close.

Since 2015, he has worn many musical hats. As the St Louis Symphony Orchestra’s Creative Partner, he works as curator, broadcaster, writer and artistic consultant. With the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, he has appeared as flautist, speaker and teacher. He was the flautist with the University of Chicago’s Grossman Ensemble and the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra, and has performed with Ensemble Signal, Imani Winds, Wu Man, Newspeak and Third Coast Percussion. www.timothymunro.com

Hello, I am Louise King and I am the Artistic Director of Long Listen, a new punchy festival program of short music experiences. Think classics with a twist.

On Friday 29 September to Monday 2 October 2023 I am launching Long Listen in my community at Eudlo Hall. Book tickets to experience a Long Listen teaser of short listening sessions featuring guest artists and conversations.

Long Listen broadens our arts ecology, by providing an inclusive audience experience. At its heart is the power of music.

Long Listen is an artist-driven, musician-led new annual boutique festival that presents the broad sweep of classical crossover artists in community places. Think a mashup of originals, world, folk and jazz artists, or singer-writers with string quartet.

Long Listen provides a space for audiences to explore, share and discover music and for our artists, a platform to experiment, make work, embedded in this community, for our community.

Help me realise Long Listen! I am working towards a fundraising goal of $50k to deliver the first festival program in October 2024. I need investors, donors and key partnerships. Your ticket directly supports our guest artists, and helps kickstart this new boutique festival.
