Event description

Join Eliza Arnold and Anna McCracken for an an afternoon of exploration, play, storytelling & connection💛

We are living in heartbreaking times.

“We are living in a time of the convergence of multiple cataclysmic forces: runaway anthropogenic climate disruption (ACD), chronic wars and the most grotesque economic inequality ever witnessed on Earth. And all are worsening by the day.” Joanna Macy

We are living in joyful times.

“To be alive in this beautiful, self- organising universe - to participate in the dance of life with senses to perceive it, lungs that breathe it, organs that draw nourishment from it - is a wonder beyond words” Joanna Macy

Deep Ecology and the Work that Reconnects explores how we can honour our deep pain and despair for the world, and celebrate our interconnectedness with a grateful, present heart.

The Work That Reconnects, based on the teachings of Joanna Macy, unfolds as a spiral journey through four stages: Coming from Gratitude, Honouring our Pain for the World, Seeing with New/Ancient Eyes, and Going Forth. The Spiral helps us experience first hand the expansive, creative and deeply interconnected web of life we are all a part of.

The Spiral
Artist: Dori Midnight

This workshop will involve conversation, somatic & experimental practices, along with self enquiry and reflection.

All practices are optional. Witnessing instead of practicing is always nurtured.

Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a journal and pen/pencils. You are invited to bring something from the natural world along with you, to be offered to a communal altar space.
No prior experience needed. Everyone is welcome. This venue is wheelchair accessible.

We would like this event to be financially accessible to all. If you genuinely can't afford a ticket, please get in touch.

We are hoping to hold this as an initial taster, with intention to over the year dive deeper into the work. We have both attended many Work that Reconnects/Deep Ecology workshops and benefited profoundly from them, and feel deeply called to share.

With love and connection

We would like to acknowledge the Djugan Yawuru people as the traditional custodians of the unceded land where this workshop will be held. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging and recognise their continuing connection to Country and Culture. We give gratitude and solidarity for the ongoing celebration and protection of this powerful Country that holds, nourishes and supports us.  Always was, always will be.
