Description

Develop and deepen your cultural understanding to engage respectfully and meaningfully with First Nations people, stories and contexts.

Guided by Kaurna Elder Uncle Mickey Kumatpi Marrutya O’Brien, this First Nations-led workshop on Kaurna Country invites emerging creatives across all disciplines to explore the histories, stories and cultural significance of place through storytelling, cultural artefact making and shared dialogue on Country.

This is a unique opportunity to build your cultural capability and develop a more informed, ethical and respectful approach to your future creative practice. A stronger connection to place, story, and community can broaden the way you think about your practice, your ideas, and the work you create.

The three hour workshop will involve;

  • Gardi Wappa Making and Patinthi

  • Water ceremony

Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy, comfortable shoes and be sun smart as part of the workshop will take place outdoors (hats, sunscreen etc).
