Spit in the Hills

Exciting News! For the fourth year, the Chidlow Tavern is playing host to Spit in the Hills, a master series International BBQ Contest, sanctioned by KCBS ~ we are also delighted to announce, a brand new contest is coming to Spit in the Hills 2022; a Horse Shoeing Demo presented by the Western Australian Farriers Association on Sunday.
The international Low & Slow BBQ Contests are taking the world by storm! There are thousands of teams worldwide who are competing in these sanctioned contests, there are television shows dedicated to the events (you may have seen them on Foxtel), and Australia is one of the fastest growing BBQ countries outside of the United States. We are proud to say that little old Chidlow is host to TWO of these events each year ~ Spit In The Hills – held in May and The Chidlow BBQ Festival – held in September.
Our 'Spit in the Hills' event also includes our weekend markets, featuring local artisans, handmade makers and producers of various goods including food stalls, BBQ items & crafts and gifts items. There will also be entertainment for the whole family including carnival rides and a sideshow alley.

WATCH - Live BBQ teams from the Kansas City Barbeque Society compete head to head
EAT – Delicious Low ‘n’ slow BBQ from the Chidlow Tavern
DRINK – Head to the Chidlow Tavern or Outside Bar on the Village Green for a coldie
LEARN-All about the art & craft of blacksmithing, and low ‘n’ slow BBQ and Meat smoking.
SHOP – Buy local, support local at our markets
CHILL- On the grass with friends and family and soak in the atmosphere around you
