Spoon Carving Workshop
Description
Come along for a day of woodcarving 🪵
I provide all the tools, materials and guidance needed to carve your very own wooden eating spoon.
Gathered outside on the land, sharing a day together in learning the ways of wood, getting to know carving tools and up skilling yourself in ancestral craft.
By the end you will not only have your own unique and practical creation in your hands to keep, but a soothing remembrance of primal ways that feeds the soul.
In the workshop we will go over how to ethically forage timber, what wood species are good for carving, correct techniques and knife safety followed by a demonstration of how to axe out a spoon blank, you will then carve your own from pre-prepared branch pieces of locally harvested wood.
- All tools and materials are provided
- Wear comfortable warm clothing that you don't mind getting wood shavings over
- Bring a potluck meal or snacks to share together for lunch + water bottle and a sitting mat, or in which ever way you're comfortable
Testimonial:
“Thank you for sharing your craft and expertise! Woodcarving was the highlight of my week. So cathartic and primal, and it felt so natural. I'm obsessed with whittling now, I have longed to try it for years and so excited for where this journey takes me.’’ - Shannyn
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land wurundjeri on which our workshop takes place. May we continue to give back with presence and reciprocity.
