Spotlight: Exporting emerging tech to Singapore from NSW

The Global NSW strategy emphasises diversifying exports and building export capability in emerging industries, building an export culture amongst NSW businesses and providing new programs and services to assist NSW companies succeed in export and diversify into Asia. 

The NSW Government is investing $112.4 million to double the footprint of NSW’s international network and in ASEAN, Singapore is a key priority.  Specifically the NSW Government has prioritised three key sectors in Singapore: fintech, regtech and cybersecurity.

We are delighted to partner with Investment NSW to bring this exclusive lunch event to NSW fintech, regtech and cybersecurity startups and scaleups looking to export their tech to Singapore.

You will hear from the founders of OpenSparkz, Arctic Intelligence and Avertro on their experiences exporting to Singapore, as well as senior representatives from Investment NSW both in Sydney and Singapore on how they can help facilitate success in Singapore.

Mina Zaki is the NSW Cyber Security Innovation Node Manager. The NSW Cyber Security Innovation Node is part of a national network of cyber security innovation nodes, designed to foster and accelerate cyber capability and innovation across the country. It is funded by AustCyber (the Australian Cyber Security Growth Network) and the NSW Government.

Debra Taylor is Co-founder and COO of Fintech scale-up OpenSparkz, board member of Stone & Chalk and serial entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience within the industry. Debra has experience across multiple sectors primarily in financial services as electronic payments and terminal solutions provider to Australian financial institutions and globally through USA, Europe, Africa, China and Asia including, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.

Darren Cade, CEO Arctic Intelligence 
Arctic Intelligence is a global RegTech company that has developed enterprise risk assessment software enabling regulated businesses to better assess, document and manage their financial crime risks. Trusted by over 200 clients globally including in Singapore, Arctic Intelligence solutions simplify the process of conducting financial crime risk assessments. 

Ian Yip - CEO  of Avertro
Avertro focuses on the business representation of cybersecurity, building a permanent bridge to translate cyber in a normalised way. Following their entry into the NSW Going Global Export Program, the venture-backed software-as-a-service company recently launched a footprint in Singapore as part of a major push into the Asian market. They are currently on the hunt for an in-country leader for Asia as well as a local distributor and channel partners.

Janice Goh - NSW Trade and Investment Director
Janice Goh has experience in both the private and public sectors. She was previously with Austrade Singapore as a sector lead for Food and Agribusiness, where she facilitated the trade and investment agenda under the Australia-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Before that, she was an Assistant Director at Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry, supporting Singapore's policy and industry development initiatives for the tourism sector.
