Williamstown International Jazz Festival presents the Spring Opening Jazz Series, a two-day celebration of Australian jazz legacy by the bay.

Australian Jazz Legacy is the highlight event of the WIJF Spring Series, celebrating the innovation and creativity of Australian jazz across past, present and future generations. Featuring one of Australia’s most acclaimed jazz artists, pianist and composer Paul Grabowsky, alongside Michelle Nicolle, Nick Haywood, Eugene Ball, New Zealand award-winning bassist and composer Umar Zakaria, Joel Trigg and Paul Whitwood. With a special mention to legendary pianist and educator Tony Gould, this unique evening honours the rich legacy and continuing creativity of Australian jazz.

Across three concerts, audiences are invited to experience music shaped by improvisation, dialogue and the living spirit of jazz — unfolding in real time by the bay.
