    Event description

Spring Equinox Journey – dance, sacred meditation and the creative ~ Journeying with Swan

    (artist unknown)

    Excerpt David Whyte

“the crow is just itself and the stone is just itself and the mountain is just itself, and the cloud, and the sky is just itself — we are the one part of creation that knows what it’s like to live in exile, and that the ability to turn your face towards home is one of the great human endeavors and the great human stories.”

In mythology Swan represents the transformation as one moves from the awkward smallness of being, to grace and beauty. Swan understands the heart to heart contact the true alchemy, of coming home to oneself, bringing wholeness within.

The Journey by Mary Oliver brings to mind this kind of homecoming

    “One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
    though the voices around you
    kept shouting
    their bad advice…

    ‘Mend my life!’
    each voice cried
    but you didn’t stop.
You knew what you had to do…

    It was already late
    enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
    branches and stones.
    But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
    the stars began to burn
    through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
    which you slowly
    recognized as your own,
    that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
    into the world,
    determined to do
the only thing you could do –
    determined to save
the only life you could save.”

    Swans medicine ….

    Glide through water

    Walk on land

    Soar through air

Swan shows us the balance of the equinox through the balance of our consciousness – whether we dip below the surface of our emotions, fly high or ground ourselves, swan helps us to integrate with the beauty of centredness, bringing presences to our own self and once again making the journey homeward.
