Spring Equinox Ritual & Celebration
Event description
Join Earthstar and Nicki on Saturday 20th September in the hall at the Mount Egerton Recreation Reserve between 1pm and 5pm to celebrate the turning of the Wheel.
Spring Equinox is the point in time when day is equal to night. A time for calling in balance, the second of the fertility festivals and a time when the natural world is buzzing with life and potential.
It is here that we see the seeds that were planted at Imbolc really begin to grow and thrive. A powerful threshold where we cross over into the light half of the year. A moment of balance, renewal and expansion. Just as the earth awakens, so do we 🌼
The trees have come back to life, blossoms are blooming, the grass is growing, the sprouts are ‘taking off’, growth is everywhere! Beautiful smells, sprite-liness and baby animals...
During Spring, everywhere in nature, we see and feel and hear, the energy, the pulse, the sound of new growth. And so we have the opportunity to consciously align with this energy and ‘use’ it to fuel whatever new beginnings we are creating in our lives.
Did you know that the Spring Equinox, or Ostara, is synonymous with Easter? The word comes from the name of an ancient Anglo-Saxon spring Goddess Eostre or Eostara. The Easter bunny and Easter eggs are all symbols of fertility, which is celebrated at the Spring Equinox. Eggs are a symbol of new life.
You can expect a combined indoor & outdoor gathering with the following:
✨ You will be smudged on arrival prior to entering the space
✨ Calling the Directions as a group
✨ Teachings around the significance of this time of the year
✨ Seasonal sacred crafting activity - eco printing on eggs
✨ Spring Equinox Ritual - A prayer for peace, calling in balance
✨ Crafting an Earth Altar as a group
✨ Nourishing afternoon tea
✨ Teachings around herbal allies and practices for this time of year
✨ Singing & drumming around the fire (outdoors)
We are looking forward to sharing a nourishing afternoon with you, steeped in ritual and ceremony as we celebrate this point in the Wheel. You are welcome to dress up for this event if you wish! What does spring mean to you? What colours or textures are alive at this time of year? What plants or animals resonate with you?
We ask that everyone brings along two eggs to eco dye as we honour this season of fertility. We will be eco printing these with found natural materials and natural dyes - so yes you can eat them afterward! A beautiful seasonal craft which you can take home and share with your loved ones.
Join us in our Spring Equinox Ritual as we weave a Prayer for Peace, calling in balance at this time of equal day and equal night. Please bring along something to add to our earth altar which we will craft together outside on the forest floor in ceremony.
The final part of the gathering will be our Singing & Drumming Circle. Bring along your voice, your drum if you have one (other musical instruments are most welcome, or stamp your feet and clap your hands, drum your heartbeat on your chest - all forms of joyous self expression are welcome!). We will provide a basket of small percussion instruments to share, such as rattles and clap sticks... don't let not owning a drum be a reason to miss out!
There will be plenty of time throughout the afternoon to sink your roots in deeply and connect with the others who have come along.
We are so looking forward to singing and drumming with you! Cultivating joy and raising our collective vibration as we celebrate the turning of the Wheel.
Love, Earthstar & Nicki
