🌳 About the Hike

Join us for a relaxed, exploratory hike through Hodge Park, a wooded natural area north of the river. We’ll begin on a concrete path before entering a dirt trail that winds through the woods, then continue with a walk through the Shoal Creek Living History Museum.

This historic property features:

A small herd of bison
Preserved buildings from the 1800s, including a mercantile, jail, grist mill, church, school, doctor’s office, and tavern
Informational kiosks sharing the history of each structure and its place in Clay County, Missouri

The total walk is approximately 1.5 miles with fairly even elevation, making it accessible for most walkers who are comfortable on natural trails.

📍 Meeting & Parking Details

Enter the park from:
NE 96th St / Shoal Creek Parkway, east of I-435

You’ll see pickleball courts and a children’s playground. Park at the far end of the parking lot, where we will gather and begin with a short walk on a concrete trail before entering the wooded dirt trail.
