    Event description

    THESE SPRING HOLIDAYS

COME OUT TO PLAY, HAVE FUN, WITH FRIENDS AND BE FREE...

    Dear children

Yarrabilba now has it’s very own ‘Community Backyard’, named by the children FREEDOM FORTRESS. Meaning it is a place for children to meet up with friends, have fun, muck around, play games, construct, be creative and just play. Play is such an important part of childhood. It is how children test and learn new knowledge and skills, build identity, celebrate who they are now, make sense of the world, de-stress, build motivation and as well as stay healthy and fit. Yarrabilba State Secondary College has supported the Australian Institute of Play to create this great play opportunities for your children. The FREEDOM FORTRESS is about making more opportunities for your children to play with friends’ afterschool, in a safe space, with Grown-Up supervision.

    Where is the

    FREEDOM FORTRESS YCB?
It is in Yarrabilba State Secondary College and after school drop-off and pick-up is via pedestrian gate across from Sandstone Park, Slate St Yarrabilba.

WHO IS FREEDOM FORTRESS YCB FOR? Children aged 5 to 14. Children below 5 can play if accompanied by parent or carer. This space belongs to the children of Yarrabilba, it is their play sanctuary, and our work is to protect and support children to play.

CAN GROWN-UPs STAY? Grown-Ups are welcome to stay if they wish but this is not necessary. FREEDOM FORTRESS YCB is a space for children to be free and be the directors of whatever they want to do. If you do decide to stay, we ask all grown-ups to remember the children are in charge in the YCB.

OPEN TIMES: 3pm to 5pm during school holidays and during school terms YCB will be open for play 3.15pm to 5.30pm every Monday & Tuesday.

Who is supervising FREEDOM FORTRESS YCB? This amazing play space is being looked after by the Australian Institute of Play, who will be providing qualified Playworkers to support the children with their activities.

DO YOU NEED TO REGISTER: Bookings are preferred as we only have limited spaces for children at this stage. Children can just turn-up. You can book by either: Email – hello@australianinstituteofplay.org or qr code on front page.
