    Event description

When is it? Sunday, April 14th from 10am to 2pm.

Where will it be held? Tiny Tree Farm: 6370 Old West Saanich Rd, Saanichton, BC V8M 1W8

Who is it for? Creatives, growers, and industry florists! This is a great workshop for anyone who is looking to combine their creativity with the opportunity to connect with other like-minded community members and industry professionals, to nurture their talents, and grow their skills.

What will I learn? Floral design mechanics for a seasonal vegetative arrangement, botanical nomenclature and seasonality, as well as how to pick flowers from a permaculture lens.

Why is this of value to me? Not only will you get to grow your skills, learn from an International Master Florist, explore the farm, and connect with other creatives, but you will also get the opportunity to create your very own spring arrangement to take home with you. We hope you come to learn something new, connect with nature, and celebrate the beautiful creation you’ve made at our spring workshop!

What is the price? All-inclusive $300

    About the Farm —

    Meet the Grower, Yvonne Hendry

Yvonne operates The Flower Patch at Tiny Tree Farm, a 6-acre property in Saanichton that overlooks the Malahat.

Yvonne’s ethical growing practices allow her to offer unsprayed ornamental and edible flowers, along with medicinal and culinary herbs. The rich soil, spring-fed water and ample sun exposure make it a beautiful place to grow, live, and learn… which is where the dream of starting workshops on the property was born.

The flower-farmer-florist dream has really blossomed and now offers full design packages for events, edible flowers packages, pre-made bouquets, build-your-own-bouquet-bucket opportunities for floral designers, community and private events, workshops, more.

    About the Educator —

Meet the International Master Florist, Katherine Olmstead

Katherine is an International Master Florist — a prestigious honour, mentored and taught by world-renowned Gregor Lersch at The Boerma Institute. Her certification means that she has a deepened floristic knowledge and drive for innovation that extends beyond the basic elements and fundamentals of floral design. The mastery and hands-on training that was gained through this program equip Katherine with the skill to help others in the industry grow and develop their skills and creative styles.

Katherine’s goal when teaching floral education workshops is to make this type of education accessible on Vancouver Island; to promote increasing the quality of industry led practices and standards through working with ethical growers and partners, and supporting and inspiring people to get connected back to nature.

This workshop will be one of many upcoming mentorship and community learning opportunities. Continued learning through these classes offers you access to a wholesale account with Tiny Tree Herb Farm, first access and flower club rates for future events, the opportunity to have your work professionally photographed for your own portfolio.
