Spring Planting; Grow Your Garden

A thriving veggie garden starts with healthy soil, and healthy soil starts with the right recipe. Whether you’re starting from scratch and want to know what and when to plant, or wondering why your plants aren’t quite thriving, Dr Compost has the tips and tricks to get you growing.

In this free workshop, you’ll learn how to create productive veggie gardens in raised beds, containers, buckets - or even right in the middle of your lawn. Dr Compost will share his soil recipe for success, favourite gardening equipment and tips for protecting your plants from the Central Otago elements.

Healthy soil grows healthy plants. Discover the secrets to successful composting and learn how to turn your food and garden waste into rich, garden-loving goodness. We’ll cover different composting methods, from hot and cold compost to compost tumblers and bins, and how to get the balance of carbon and nitrogen just right.

With more than 20 years’ composting and gardening experience, Hāwea’s Ben Elms (aka Dr Compost) brings plenty of practical know-how, humour and answers to your gardening questions.
