Event description

Inclusion and belonging at the local school:  The parent advocacy tool-kit

SPRINGFIELD LAKES
Friday 24th of February

About the Workshop

Inclusion in the regular local school has been possible for decades. It is a human right; supported by evidence and now also supported by Queensland’s inclusive education policy. But achieving inclusion for all children is still not simple and straightforward!

Come along to this FREE workshop to hear stories of the benefits of inclusion, and of overcoming barriers to success in the regular classroom. Learn about inclusion to be clearer on your goals and develop skills to help promote inclusion for your child.

This free workshop will help you become more confident in advocating for your child in the education system.

Come along to experience and learn about:

  • Knowing your child’s gifts and setting a vision for inclusion success
  • Embracing your role as an advocate
  • What authentic inclusion in the regular class looks like,
  • Education laws, policies and supports
  • Speaking positively and confidently to work collaboratively with the school
  • Advocacy tips to stay strong and effective

Note: This is a NEW workshop but draws on content presented in previous CRU workshops.
