Sydney Rare Book Week | Introduction to Letterpress Printing workshop (afternoon)

As part of Sydney Rare Book Week, please join us at the University of Sydney for an introduction to Letterpress Printing workshop. Join artist and printer, Brigitta Summers, to work with the Library’s early 19th century Albion printing press, fondly known as the Piscator Press. 

You will learn about the history of letterpress printing as well as have the opportunity to set some type and print your very own memento to take home. 

This event is limited to 6 people, so book early to avoid disappointment. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking as soon as possible so we can re-allocate your ticket.

Printer’s Bio
Brigitta Summers is an emerging artist who has recently completed a Master of Fine Arts at Sydney College of the Arts. Her research is currently investigating ‘thinking with trees’ through artistic practice, primarily large-scale woodcut and site-based bookmaking as a way of transforming her relationship to the environment. She has previously completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in printmaking, at the National Art School. She has been involved in letterpress since she was a kid, when she would print with her dad, Nick Summers, in his letterpress workshop.
