Multicultural Australia for The Voice
Event description
The Uluru Statement from the Heart has extended a generous and powerful invitation to all Australians and we are embracing this invitation and asking you to join us on this journey of saying Yes to constitutional recognition.
Settlement Services International and Ethnic Communities' Council of Victoria along with the Multicultural Australia for the Voice alliance invite you to a special interactive community town hall, along with special guests Minister for Indigenous Australians Linda Burney and Inclusion Consultant Tasneem Chopra (OAM) to learn more about the upcoming Voice referendum. We will also be joined by local MP Julian Hill, Member for Bruce, the Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs Andrew Giles, the Minister for Home Affairs & Cyber Security Clare O'Neil and MP Sheena Watts, Member for Northern Metropolitan.
Join us for community festivities from 12pm (please arrive at 11:45am for a prompt 12pm start).
The interactive panel discussion on the Voice referendum will take place from 12:45pm - 2:30pm, with the event wrapping up at 2:40pm.
Together we will talk about why constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through a Voice to Parliament is a crucial step in the walk towards reconciliation as a country. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions, share their feedback and learn about ways to engage in the local community.
This event is open to everyone.
This is an opportunity for our multicultural communities to come together, learn, and engage in a constructive conversation about the Voice Referendum and its potential impact.
