Child Safeguarding Workshop

Register today to stay informed!

Building safer organisations for children and young people.

New child safeguarding laws came into effect on 1 October 2025, and all organisations working with children have a role to play in keeping them safe.

Outback Independent Living (OIL), with support from the Queensland Child and Family Commission, is delivering a series of free, face-to-face workshops across Western Queensland to help organisations understand their responsibilities and strengthen their practices.

About the workshop

This interactive 3.5 hour, face-to-face session will cover:

  • Child Safe Standards (QLD)

  • The Universal Principle and cultural safety

  • Creating and maintaining a child safe organisation

  • Reporting obligations and the Reportable Conduct Scheme

What to expect

  • Practical, real-world examples

  • Scenario-based discussions

  • Reflection on your current practices

  • Tools to identify gaps and strengthen safeguarding

Who should attend

This workshop is relevant for anyone working or volunteering with children, including:

  • Early years and education

  • Disability services

  • Churches and faith-based organisations

  • Health and community services

  • Sporting clubs and youth groups

  • Councils and community organisations
