St James' International Organ Festival: Marko Sever
Event description
The Australian organist, Marko Sever, has emerged as a powerful presence in the organ world.
His mastery of the organ is coupled with his extraordinary ability to evoke intense emotion from the music he plays.
None highlight this synthesis better than the concert's pièce de resistance: Julius Reubke’s Sonata on the 94th Psalm. A cornerstone of 20th century repertoire, the Reubke reflects the intensity of the composer's short, yet storied life.
Building to this climactic finish, contrasting works by Mozart, Muhly, Cochereau, and Holst (who’s 150th birthday we celebrate this year) will feature in this not-to-be-missed concert.
Programme:
Demessieux - Te Deum
Holst - St Paul's Suite
Mozart - Adagio and Allegro in F
Cochereau - 1963 Symphonie en improvisation (Lento)
Muhly - The Rev'd Mustard's Installation Prelude
Reubke - Sonata on the 94th Psalm
