St. Johns Food Swap
Event description
-What is a food swap?
It is a food barter event, where community members come to trade home-made and home-grown food items.
What can I bring?
Homemade items such as jams, sauces, candy, beer, wine, bread, cheese, cookies, fermented foods, tinctures, extracts, etc. Also home-grown or wild-harvested foods such as eggs, honey, greens, teas, squash, berries, flowers, etc.
How much should I bring?
However much you like! The more you bring, the more you will have to trade for. You can bring more than one type of item, or several portions of the same item.
What can I expect?
5:30-6pm: Arrive, and set out your items. Fill out a bidding sheet for each type of item you have, including a brief description, and any important notes ie. vegan, contains nuts, etc. Feel free to set out samples.
6-6:30pm: Quick introductions as a group, and then you will walk around "bidding" on items, by listing your item that you would like to offer as a trade. Sample, mingle, and make offers.
6:30-7pm: Bidding closes at 6:30. You review your own offers, and follow up with individuals to make trades.
