Luke, 19, is a multi-instrumentalist and studies piano under Prof. Robert Constable, earning his LMusA with distinction at 15. He has performed extensively as a solo and orchestral pianist. Cedar's passion for the violin led to studies and performances in Sydney, Europe and New York, where she holds a President's Scholarship at the Manhattan School of Music. Cedar received her LMusA for piano in 2020. She will be the soloist for the final concert of the Bowral Autumn Music Festival 2023.

MORE ABOUT LUKE AND CEDAR

Luke is a frequent guest recitalist at St Jude's, Bowral, performing a wide range of repertoire to the delight of local audiences. Luke studies piano with Kangaroo Valley residents, Professor Robert Constable AM, and Musicology with Dr Jane McKellar. An outstanding scholar and musician, Luke is a dual degree student at the University of New England, where he specialises in Biomedical Science and Music. In addition to his recital performances, Luke will be heard later in 2023 as a soloist with the Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra conducted by Dr Allan Stiles in Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat. Luke sees these opportunities as fundamental to his musical development. "St. Jude's Music Association has provided me numerous valuable performance opportunities, including recitals and a concerto, allowing me to showcase my abilities and receive valuable feedback. The Emerging Artist series extends these opportunities, providing a platform for up-and-coming musicians like myself to perform and grow in front of a supportive audience. St. Jude's has been a priceless resource in my journey as a musician, and the Emerging Artist series is an exciting new chapter."

Cedar is from Wombarra and commenced her violin studies with Sarah Hindson; she was a frequent participant in the Wollongong Eisteddfod on both the violin and piano. Her passion for music led her to pursue studies in violin in Europe and the United States, where she has been the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards. Cedar was a scholarship student at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division from 2017-2021, studying with Lucie Robert and Albert Markov. In addition, she was a recipient of the Ted and Susan Meller Scholarship Fund at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying with Ass. Prof. Goetz Richter in 2022.

Cedar won the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Concerto competition in 2019 when she was 15 and has been successful in many other competitions. Cedar has performed solo recitals with chamber groups and orchestras in North America, Europe and Australia and attended many music festivals. She has been a solo artist with the Highlands Symphony Orchestra performing Lalo's Symphony Espagnole in 2018 and Steel City Strings on two occasions, including premiering  Australian Dawn and Bush Dance by well-known Australian composer Ann Carr Boyd. Last year Cedar and Alex Yau presented a concert to raise money for Medicines San Frontiers and raised $6500 in Thirroul.    Here is Cedar and Alex's concert.
