Stabat Mater Furiosa is the cry of a woman who rebels against war and violence. 

A text at the crossroads of theatre and poetry, around thirty poetic pages, violent, angry and tender too. Thirty pages without a period, without a comma, words that follow one another and take you into the intimacy of a woman uprooted by brutality, by the man of war, by bloodthirsty madness. A woman with a thousand voices. A woman who no longer wants to understand the absurdity of violence, all forms of violence.  

A woman who dreams of a world where strength looks like a smile, where men and women hold hands without having to cry about our differences. 

If you like the French language, this is a performance to live. This is not a standard stage theatre performance. The audience will be sharing the space with the actors. Do not worry. This is not an audience participation show but an immersive, intimate moment. Strictly limited tickets are available.

Jean-Pierre Siméon is a poet, playwright and critic. Born in 1950, he experienced a society torn apart by war (Rwanda, Lebanon, Armenia, Bosnia, Chechnya, Mexico, etc.), which led him to stand up against the absurdity of war.

A recognised voice of contemporary French poetry, hailed by numerous awards, Jean-Pierre Siméon came to the theatre in 1997 with the writing of Stabat Mater Furiosa. By writing for the stage, he does not make a radical break but changes his language, which he calls “theatre poetry”.

The numerous stagings and translations of his texts make him today one of the major authors of the French contemporary scene.
