Trinity College Stage 1 Drama-The Laramie Project
Event description
Trinity College Stage 1 Drama Students are proud to present 'The Laramie Project". Written by Moises Kaufman and the Tectonic Theatre Project, The Laramie Project follows the story of Matthew Shepard, a charismatic openly gay man who was murdered in Laramie, Wyoming in 1998. His death inspired the introduction of hate crime legislation in Wyoming, the recognition of the plight of the LBGTQ+ community, as well as garnering significant media attention both in the United States and worldwide.
The Tectonic Theatre Project over the course of two years interviewed the people who live in Laramie, those connected to the case, to the area, and to Matthew. Those interviews form the script itself; with everything you hear in the production being direct transcripts of these interviews.
This production is a poignant piece of theatre, delivered at a time where we see the consequences of blind hatred still around us.
We look forward to welcoming you and sharing this profoundly powerful piece of theatre.
