Stage 5’ish – Ages 14 to 16 – STEM Venture – Fossil Fuel Project – Science Day

Ages: 14 to 16

Time: 9am to 3:00pm

Location: 33 Wycombe Road Terrigal

Cost: $60

It is limited to only 8 tickets (Sam is doing it and so there will be a max of 9 students)

It is a STEM event to engage with a real project.

The aim of this STEM project is to :

i) Develop an in-depth understanding of energy (both renewable and non-renewable)

ii) Develop an in-depth understanding of some material production techniques which will include quantitative analysis and experimentation.

iii) propose and test a variety of different processes to convert the local fuel source into a form which can be used.

iv) propose a renewable energy replacement which could be used to replace the fossil fuel.

This means there will be Science (specifically Chemistry and Physics), Technology, Engineering, Maths and Economics involved. Lots of hands on and mess (wear old clothes)

STUDENT ONLY EVENT – Parents to drop off and pickup. There are no provisions for parents or guardians to stay.

AGE REQUIREMENTS – This event is for students aged 14 to 16

WHAT TO BRING – Pencil Case with pens, pencils, ruler etc.

All food and drink (no peanuts, eggs or allergens)

INSURANCE - Make Science Fun Pty Ltd has full public liability insurance to cover Home School Science days.

CHILD SAFETY – Make Science Fun Pty Ltd follows strict child safety protocols. These include all Teachers having WWC checks and common sense rules such as adults not being alone with students at any time.
