Stamp Carving for Beginners

What does Christmas mean to you? What images are special to you at this time of the year - are they traditional ones from the Northern hemisphere, or do you prefer something more Aussie? Have you ever searched for a meaningful Christmas card design and been disappointed? This Christmas, you can create your own personalised cards to send to friends and family. Helen will show you how you can carve a simple design in a rubber stamp material and then stamp onto cardstock. The results are unique to you and add a very special touch appreciated by the recipients. We will begin by learning how to safely use carving tools, how to keep it simple - often the best effects come from a simple shape used in a repeating pattern. We will sketch out some design ideas or find inspiration from a selection of ideas you can borrow or adapt. Then we begin the carving, testing, refining and finally we are ready to print our stamps onto cards. It's actually very easy to do. You will take home your stamps, and a selection of greeting cards and gift tags with your designs.
Everything is provided, just bring along some Christmas spirit with you, we will have lots of fun.
