Come along for a fun, hands-on creative workshop with contemporary First Nations artist and designer Renée Mead from Murri Girl Designs.
Have you got a jacket, shirt, pair of pants or dress sitting in your wardrobe that needs a little love? Bring it along and give it a new lease on life!
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to create your own lino stamp using Ezy Carve lino, inspired by your own ideas, patterns, shapes or designs. Then, use your handmade stamp to transform an item from your wardrobe into something fresh, unique and full of personality.
This is all about reimagining what you already own, exploring your creativity and discovering how a simple stamp can turn an everyday piece of clothing into wearable art.
About the workshop:
Renée will guide you through the process of designing, carving and using your own lino stamp. You’ll explore pattern, repetition, colour and mark-making while learning how to create a design that can be printed onto fabric.
You might choose bold shapes, playful patterns, nature-inspired designs, symbols or something completely abstract. Whether you want to make a statement or add subtle details, your design is entirely up to you.
Once your stamp is ready, you’ll experiment with printing onto your own clothing and discover how to give an existing garment a whole new personality.
There are no rules about what your design should look like. It’s about experimenting, trying something new, embracing the unexpected and enjoying the creative process.
Each participant will:
o Design and create their own lino stamp using Ezy Carve lino
o Learn the basics of lino stamp-making and carving techniques
o Experiment with patterns, shapes, repetition and mark-making
o Reimagine and upcycle an item of clothing from their own wardrobe
o Print their design onto a garment to create a unique piece of wearable art
o Receive a tote bag to customise with their handmade stamp and take home
