Stand Up Comedy Classes

Learn the basics of stand up and joke writing or punch up your sets in these interactive fun workshops. You'll develop a 5-minute set in this 4-week course and perform in the student graduation showcase. Tune into your unique funny bone to find your authentic comedic voice. Learn skills and techniques professional comics use to be funnier at social gatherings, storytelling, speaking engagements, writing and more. If you like comedy, want to be funnier, try stand up or punch up your craft then this is the class for you. Limited to 8 students max to ensure more personalized attention.

Classes meet on Wednesday Nights 6p-9pm on Feb 12, 19, 26 and Mar 5.

The graduation showcase featuring you & your classmates is on Friday, March 14 at 7:30pm. Note, this showcase is run as a FWAF Show (formerly X2 Comedy) where you’ll get to experience what it’s like to be a professional comedian for a day whether you continue in stand up or not.

All Classes & Showcase are at The Tavern @ The Offices, 31 N Federal St, Harrisonburg, VA 22802.

Your instructors are Dawn & Chris Womack aka The Funny Womacks from FWAF [f-wahf] = The Funny Womacks & Friends. Chris Womack is a JMU Professor and professional comedian for the last 4 years. Dawn a professional comedian with 7+ years of experience. She’s also the host and content creator of Virginia Is For Laughers, a podcast about all things non-hiking in the Shenandoah Valley. This husband-and-wife team perform as solo acts and now also as a duo act.
