STAND UP TO THE STATE: Police accountability and community protection practical training

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

As inequality rises and the climate collapses, the state is increasingly crushing dissent with "less lethal" weapons ranging from sound cannons to drones. In the wake of Saturday's Black Lives Matter demonstrations we have learnt first-hand that the NSW will commit acts of brutality, and blatantly break the law, against peaceful protestors. This shows that we need to be better prepared for these types of confrontations in the future.

This half-day workshop will upskill our comrades in areas like:

- Your rights with police 101 & effective legal observing

- Countering police equipment - from handcuffs to tear gas to surveillance equipment

- Street medic 101, how to protect each other on the frontlines of police attacks against us

- Crowd strategies against police brutality - communications, hassle lines, de-escalation and more

For those who can’t make it in person, there is a registration option to attend via Zoom, so please register to be sent that Zoom link.

This event will be held on Aboriginal land. Sovereignty never ceded.
