Standard Mental Health First Aid course
Event description
This course will improve your knowledge of mental illnesses, treatments and first aid actions as well as increase your confidence in providing first aid actions.The course helps reduce stigma, and improves support for people with mental illness.
Learn to:
• Recognise common mental health problems in adults.
• Provide initial help using a practical, evidence-based Action Plan.
• Seek appropriate professional help.
• Respond in a crisis situation.
This is a 12-hour educational course, not a therapy or support group.
- Each participant will receive their own Mental Health First Aid Manual free of charge.
- Each participant has the option to complete an online assessment task after the course to gain National Accreditation as a Mental Health First Aider, including certificate, valid for 3 years.
The course will be a casual, relaxed, engaging and supportive learning environment.
It will be held over two consecutive Fridays, 21st and 28th June, 0900 - 4.30pm.
Attendance at both days is required.
All teaching materials will be provided.

Each participant has the option to complete an online assessment task
after the course to gain National Accreditation as a Mental Health First
Aider, including certificate, valid for 3 years.
The Community College is located adjacent to the carpark behind the
IGA shopping arcade. There are kitchen facilities available to BYO
lunch, and cafes/shops within a short walk.
An individual email address must be provided for each participant please. This enables each participant to receive information from the host prior to the event, and it also enables participants to complete the post-course evaluation/assessment.
