WHAT THIS ONLINE COURSE COVERS

Standard Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to provide mental health first aid to family members, co-workers and other adults aged 18-65yrs in your community. You will learn how to offer initial support to adults who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis is resolved.

Mental health problems covered:

- Depression

- Anxiety problems

- Psychosis

- Substance use problems

Mental health crisis covered include:

- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours

- Panic attacks

- Traumatic events

- Severe psychotic states

- Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use

- Aggressive behaviours

COURSE COMPONENTS

Component 1:

3-5hrs self-paced eLearning component

Component 2:

2 x 2.5hr zoom sessions led by an accredited MHFA Instructor
