Event description

Do you love Music or Film? Do you want to know how your favourite album or movie was made? Maybe make one yourself?

Join us for a weekend at SAE Auckland!

Step into the role of Songwriter, Music Producer, Audio Engineer or Screen Producer and learn about your chosen discipline from real industry professionals! Level up your skills and discover new techniques, then end your weekend on an epic note with a collaborative Music Video!

Whether you are a songwriter, a beat maker, a film buff or have never tried either but just want to give it a go, this STAR Course is for anyone!

Try one of our disciplines and see if SAE is right for you.

  • No experience required

  • Classes will be delivered by our SAE Studio Supervisors

  • Catering will be provided for all participants.

  • Available to students Yr 11 to 13

Participants will gather in small groups of their preferred discipline and spend the day learning about techniques, workflow and creative process.

Songwriting: Getting together and writing a song looking at lyrics, structure and harmony.

Audio Production: Getting an induction into studio recording, setting up microphones and running the sound through a professional desk.

Music Production: Making a song in Logic or Ableton, from session setup to coming up with the beat and building the track.

Screen Production: Setting up a scene, finding the right lighting and composition for your shot and capturing video through industry-standard camera equipment.

Following the individual group work students will collaborate on a hands-on project involving all four disciplines!

Workshop hours:

Saturday, 11th of October 10am-3pm
