    The Stiff Gins with Kevin Hunt and String Quartet

    Off the back of a recent and highly successful concert debut curated by Roland Peelman, the Stiff Gins will be appearing at the Starfish Club with master pianist Kevin Hunt and a string Quartet led by the incredible Veronique Serret, as well as the fabulous Starfish Rhythm section of Hamish Stuart and Jonathan Zwartz (string arrangements by jz also)

    The Stiff Gins are a first nations duo comprising of Wiradjuri/Yorta Yorta woman Kaleena Briggs and Yuwaalaraay woman Nardi Simpson. They stand as Australia’s longest currently performing all Indigenous female group.

    With a rich history of music spanning over two decades, Stiff Gins share their love for music, culture, and language with audiences worldwide. Recognised for their outstanding contributions to Australian Music, they continue to evolve creatively, with Kaleena and Nardi actively composing and performing in concert halls around Australia.

    Their musical journey travels a deep and wide river of personal cultural expression and artistic growth. 

    They have been honoured with a Centennary Medal for Outstanding Services to Indiginous Music, have performed at Australia's largest and most prestigious Music Festivals including Canberra International Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, The National Folk Festival, Big Day Out, Homebake, Bluesfest, Womad, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Peats Ridge Music festival, and many more, and have toured extensively internationally including North America, Canada, UK, Amsterdam, Spain, France, Singapore, Vietnam, Egypt, Cyprus, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, New Zealand, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya.

    As well as being a successful singer/songwriter Nardi Simpson is a writer as well with an acclaimed novel ‘Song of the Crocodile released in 2020, through Hachette Australia, and a second novel due for publication in 2024.
