Time will be set aside to discuss our March read which is 'Alanna: The First Adventure' by Tamora Pierce.
A free community event.

- What should participants bring?
Participants are encouraged to bring the following items:
Sunscreen
Hat
Water bottle
Notebook
Pen and spare pen

- Do participants need to be members of the book club to attend?
No, participants do not need to be members of the Starlight Book Club to attend. This excursion is open to all adults in support of The Long Way Home Writing Competition.
We hope the experience will give you a chance to connect with others who enjoy reading and conversation, and that you may enjoy it enough to consider joining the Starlight Book Club as a regular member next month.
- How do I sign up as a regular Starlight Book Club Member?

Membership is $50 per year and gives you access to all Starlight Book Club events.

- What happens if we have allergies?
If you have low to mild allergies, it is recommended that you ask about the ingredients in each dish and avoid consuming any foods that may tigger a reaction.
If you have anaphylaxis, it is recommended that you notify the manager of Kaitlyn’s Starlight Tutoring, Kaitlyn-Maree Robertson, in advance so participants can be advised of any foods that should be avoided on the day.
- Is transport provided, or do participants need to arrange their own travel?
Participants need to arrange their own transport.
- Do participants need to read the book before attending?
You do not need to read the book Alanna: The First Adventure before attending.
- How do I register or reserve a spot?
Please RSVP through Humanitix or Facebook by the 11th of April 2026.
- Is the venue accessible for people with mobility needs?
Yes, I believe the area is accessible for people with mobility needs.
- Are children allowed to attend, and do they need a guardian present?
Yes, children are welcome to attend; however, they must be in the care and supervision of a responsible adult at all times.
- What are the safety guidelines during the excursion?
To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience, participants are asked to follow these guidelines:
Please follow any instructions provided by the Manger of Kaitlyn's Starlight Tutoring, Kaitlyn-Maree Robertson.
Stay aware of your surroundings, particularly if the excursion is held outside.
Stay on designated paths or areas to avoid hazards.
Watch your step on uneven ground or slippery surfaces.
Ensure children are supervised by a responsible adult at all times, especially near water or roads.
Keep personal belongings secure to prevent loss or tripping hazards.
Report any incidents or hazards to the Manger of Kaitlyn's Starlight Tutoring, Kaitlyn-Maree Robertson immediately.
Take appropriate precautions for the weather, including wearing sunscreen and a hat if it is sunny, taking breaks in the shade as needed, and keeping hydrated.
Dispose of rubbish responsibly and help keep the space clean.
Follow hygiene practices, especially when sharing food, such as washing or sanitising hands before eating, using serving utensils instead of hands, and covering food when not being served.
Be mindful of potential allergens in shared food and spaces, and take care to avoid any items that could trigger a reaction.

- What happens if the weather is bad?
If it is pouring rain or heavy rain is forecast, the Starlight Book Club will be moved to our usual venue: Flame Trees Cafe and Cakery.
- Who can I contact if I can no longer attend?

- Are phones or devices allowed during discussions?
Phones should be kept on silent for the whole event and used minimally.
- Can I bring a friend?
Yes, we highly recommend doing this. However, please RSVP by the 11th of April.
- Are there any accessibility considerations?
If you need assistance or accessibility accommodations, please let us know in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.
- Will there be photos taken?
Yes, photos will be taken for promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be included, please inform the Manager of Kaitlyn’s Starlight Tutoring, Kaitlyn-Maree Robertson, beforehand.
