Event description

This event was originally scheduled to take place on 25th November - White Ribbon Day, the International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women.

However, with the Katherine COVID lockdowns and lockouts we have shifted to Thursday 9th December: luckily, the event still falls in an exciting time for Activism: 25th November kicks off 16 days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence - “Orange the world: End violence against women now!” (see https://www.unwomen.org/en/wha... for more info)

This year to celebrate, KWILS is proud to host a two part event to start conversations about how we can address violence against women in Katherine and the Big Rivers Region. Kicking off at 5pm at Peakabrew Cafe will be a Spoken Word Event - haiku, limericks, short verse, short stories - with some drinks and nibbles. This is a free event.

Then, in partnership with Katherine Film Society, we will be showing The Justice of Bunny King at the Katherine Cinema. All tickets are free, but bookings are essential.

You are welcome to attend one or both of the events - you will see the two parts are separately ticketed. Any questions, please contact Siobhan on siobhan.mackay@kwils.com.au

This event is made possible thanks to generous support from the Katherine Town Council (Major Events Grant).
