Do you have a problem to solve or an idea you’d like to bring to life but don't know where to start? Or who to start with? Or do you just want to build your innovation toolkit and an entrepreneurial mindset? Startup Weekend is here to help!
On December 1-3, the NSW Government is powering a Startup Weekend for anyone across Sydney who is interested in learning the basics of founding businesses.
Learn how to think, work, and build like a startup in 54 thrilling hours. Techstars Startup Weekend is an exciting and immersive foray into the world of startups. Over an action-packed three days, you’ll meet the very best mentors, investors, co-founders and sponsors to show you how to get more done faster -- and, maybe even launch that business.
This experience will be facilitated by the wonderful Lalitha Wemel - based in Malaysia, Lalitha is a founder, experience designer and startup ecosystem builder with an extensive background in design, community, talent, startup, growth, and industry engagement at a public and private sector level.
You can come with an idea (it should be something that isn’t already an up and running business) and an existing team, or just bring yourself! If you don’t have an idea that’s fine - you’ll hear pitches from people on Friday night and have the opportunity to join someone else and work on the idea they present.
Kicking off with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation, the weekend will culminate in Sunday night presentations where each team will have the opportunity to pitch to judges and receive valuable feedback (as well as win some great prizes)!
Tickets are $40 which covers your participation in the event as well as several meals across the weekend! If you buy multiple tickets at once you can access discounted ticket packages.

Startup Weekend Partners
Globally, Startup Weekends are supported by Google for Startups and GoDaddy. As a result, participants of Startup Weekends can access some great resources including:
1. Access to $300 in Google Cloud credits. Best practices, tools, and other Google resources for participants can also be found at startup.google.com.Participants will also have access to the free Google tools, Google Trends and Market Finder. These tools let founders see if there is a growing demand for their product and in which markets.
2. 1 x free GoDaddy Registry domain, per person. GoDaddy Registry provides a domain name that many innovators and entrepreneurs all over the world use.
Terms of Participation Agreement: It is our job to provide you with an incredible networking and learning experience. Our intention is that you meet some amazing people that you might start a company with, learn from mentors and learn from your peers. The event is intended to be a collaborative forum for sharing, learning, building, and having fun. As such, by registering as a participant, you acknowledge that any ideas shared by you or anyone else over the course of the event are contributions to the overall experience and community. If you’re very concerned, you can limit your pitch to the rough outline of the idea without giving away key information.
As a member of your startup community, you agree to be inclusive of any and all people and their ideas. You agree to act professionally, treat everyone with respect, and treat the event facilities with proper care. You agree that you are responsible in the event of any accidents or damages that you cause. You also agree to not hold Techstars Startup Weekend, your local volunteer team, or any of the event supporters liable for any loss, damage, injury, or any other unforeseeable incident.
By participating in the event, you grant Techstars permission to capture photos/videos of the event and use them for marketing purposes, so we can continue to offer amazing Techstars Startup Weekends around the world.
