State Funeral to honour the life of Professor Peter Buckskin AM PSM

A State Funeral will take place at 10.30am on Friday 12 June 2026, to honour Professor Peter Buckskin's work to advance the rights and educational outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Australia and internationally. A proud Narungga man from Guuranda (Yorke Peninsula), Professor Buckskin was one of Australia’s most influential Aboriginal education leaders, with a career spanning more than four decades.
Doors will open at 9.45am and we kindly request that all guests be seated by 10.15am.
Limited parking will be made available within the St Francis of Assisi School grounds, enter via Graves Street.

Immediately following the service, you are invited to attend a public reception in the St Francis of Assisi Hall adjacent to the Church. Kindly register your interest to attend.
Condolence books will be available on the day for attendees to leave messages for the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family has kindly requested consideration for people and organisations wishing to honour Professor Buckskin, to donate to White Ribbon Australia and Cancer Council South Australia.
