State of AI in Schools WA Forum
Event description
Artificial Intelligence is transforming how we live, work, and learn. In schools, AI offers the potential to personalise learning, reduce teacher workload, and better prepare students for the future. However, Western Australia risks falling behind both globally and nationally in preparing its schools, teachers, and students for the opportunities and risks AI presents.
The Fogarty Foundation, in partnership with the Beyond Boundaries Institute (BBI), is proud to host the State of AI in WA Schools Forum on November 18-19th at Curtin University, a two-day event which will bring together over 200 teachers, school leaders, policymakers and industry experts to explore the role of AI in our schools.
Day 1: Sector Showcase and Practical Updates
This day focuses on understanding the current landscape of AI in education and learning from early adopters. It is open to educators and school leaders, to hear from policymakers, sector partners, and industry experts. The program includes keynote speakers, updates from key education sectors, discussions on AI safety, infrastructure and ethics, and showcases from WA schools demonstrating practical applications of AI in classrooms and school operations.
Day 2: Professional Development
This day is designed for educators and school leaders, with tailored streams to build confidence and capacity in using AI in schools. It includes hands-on workshops aligned with national best practice, leadership development sessions, live demonstrations of AI tools, and collaborative design activities. The focus is on practical, school-ready strategies and co-designing AI use-cases that can be implemented in various educational contexts and increase AI literacy among those leading our schools. The day ends with shared reflections and guidance on next steps, supported by the Fogarty Foundation and the Beyond Boundaries Institute.
Attendance Options
Participants can attend either day on its own or as part of a two-day package. Each day offers standalone value: Day 1 provides strategic insight and sector-wide context, while Day 2 delivers practical tools and professional learning for immediate application in schools.
