Description

Two Japanese cookbooks, one fine Saturday.

One day only, Little Cardigan is launching Japanese Bakehouse with chef Brendan Liew (Chotto, Minamishima, Warabi, Supernormal) and his book Eki Ben, with a sando party.

Station Sando is their version of ekiben, the train bento Japan does so well.

What’s on the menu

  • Satoshi’s soft shokupan, filled with Brendan’s crafty pork katsu, ebi (prawn) tartare, and mince katsu from his book Eki Ben

  • Matcha, milk and black sesame nama choco by Brendan

  • Both books, ready to take home, authors on standby with Sharpie to sign.

Take them to the nearest park, on a train, or dine in; that's the magic of ekiben.

Spots are limited, so grab a ticket and bring someone hungry.

Ekiben explores Japan's iconic station bento boxes, tracing the stories, flavours and traditions behind these beloved meals, along with recipes to recreate them at home. It's a journey through Japan by way of food that makes every trip a little more special.

Japanese Bakehouse introduces traditional and cult favourite baked goods from Japan to the home cook by Little Cardigan's Satoshi Narusawa. The book celebrates his memory growing up with panyasans and his life as a baker.
