ABOUT LAURA:

Born and raised in Gisborne, Laura has been an
avid and passionate creative since her early
years. A classic 'jack-of'all-trade' artist, she
likes to pour her heart and energy into a variety
of disciplines in both visual and performing art
forms.
After studying media arts, film and theatre at Waikato
University, Laura headed to Auckland to combine her love
of cinema and art by studying Special FX Makeup.

This lead her to move to Wellington and pursue
work in the film industry. In 2012 she landed her dream job
at Weta Workshop - as a painter for the amour and
weapons department, creating props for The Hobbit
trilogy, Man of Steel and Elysium to name a few,
while working alongside other incredibly talent
folks. These connections brought her to work
backstage at the World of Wearable Art (WOW)
show as a creative makeup artist for two years
running.

Laura is one of the founder members of NEST Arts Collective, a working art studio, classroom and gallery in Amberley NZ.
