Di di diddle iddle di di iddle, di di diddle iddle di di iddle

Line up line up

o’er here , o’er here

A marriage of kinds, a coupling has begun.

The body moves to the siren of the Circus drum.

Untz untz, thunderclap.

Pass through the smiling arch, reading the magician’s map.

Pitter patter, flat foot, tiptoe towards the ticketbooth,

Where Bustedjacks are nought but friendly creatures,

Smiling beasts of the twilight zone.

Galumphing and big-toed, revered and beknown.

Bunting flags that waggle and shake,

Says only one thing: that a fête awaits.

A fanfare chortles in echoes around

Through the canvas walls of our very showground.

Come speak our vows, muck around..

Dance in the sun and in the moon

Joined finally on  Earth,

When it folded in half and became all anew.

Alone we bounce and bop and bellow,

Together we twirl, trumpet and twiddle.

Steeplebust welcomes you,

O’er here, o’er there.

Take a carriage,

to the bonniest fair.

Steeplejack and Bust operate on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation, whose culture and customs have nurtured and continue to nurture this land. We pay our respects to elders past and present. To this day, colonial violence continues to shape the oppression of First Nations people in so-called ‘Australia’. Sovereignty has never been ceded.
