SMART STEM Club- Term 4 2024
Event description
Calling all science sleuths, daring detectives and curious crime scene investigators!
Our Term 4 STEM Club will explore the fascinating world of forensic science. Students will learn some of the techniques scientists use to help solve crimes, from fingerprinting to DNA sampling
Each weekly session will cover a different area of forensic science, including:
- Crime scene investigation
- Gathering and securing evidence
- Making and capturing fingerprints and shoe prints
- Analysing trace evidence from fibres and soil
- Exploring and extracting DNA
- Finding clues in documents and cracking codes
Forensic science is more than just one science – it can involve almost every field of science and technology (from electronics to psychology).
All activities will be age-appropriate, involving everyday objects and scenarios, so there’ll be no bones, blood or bodies in our investigations (and certainly no murders or weapons!)
