STEM Hour: Connect, learn, grow
Integrating Indigenous perspectives
Early exposure to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures enriches the lives of children and their families. How can you facilitate this in a respectful and meaningful way?
Embedding Indigenous perspectives into education and care settings starts with a mindful process of reflection on practice, creating safe and inclusive environments, facilitating honest conversations and reaching out to the community. Join us to hear Michelle Hamilton, proud Wiradjuri woman and manager of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Inclusion hub of the NSW/ACT Inclusion Agency. Michelle will share how to develop cultural competence and foster a sense of belonging for Indigenous and non-Indigenous children and families.
Date: Thursday, 10 February 2022
Time: 11am - 12pm AEDT
Objectives:
- Establishing inclusive environments through reflective practice
- Enabling meaningful conversations with colleagues, children and families about Indigenous knowledge and bias
- Building trusting relationships with local Indigenous communities
The webinar is scheduled to run for one hour and includes a Q&A session.
