About Ada Lovelace Day
Ada Lovelace Day is an annual celebration, held on the second Tuesday of October, that honours the achievements of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. The day was established to raise the profile of women in STEM, create new role models, and inspire more women to pursue STEM careers by highlighting their contributions and overcoming stereotypes. The day is named after Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, a 19th-century mathematician considered the first computer programmer for her work on Charles Babbage's proposed Analytical Engine.
