Stencil + Screenprint workshop
Event description
Learn how to design, or trace a stencil, cut it out by hand, and screen print onto fabric in an analogue style using water based ink, a silk screen and squeegee.
Taught to you by members of The Upcycle Collective Aotearoa:
Rachel Moidart - Yardjuice label - worked in screen printing 25 years, embroidery, vinyl heat pressing, printing, fashion and sewing/pattern making 7 years with a NZQA certificate. She also has a degree in Māori Studies and film and post grad diploma in Communications
Lucy-Mae Goffe-Robertson - Lucy-Maed Creations label and founder of Fashion Rebellion Aotearoa, The Upcycle Collective Aotearoa and Fridays For Future Tāmaki climate activist grouo, has been upcycling for 18 years, selling clothing in Buana Satu shop, Auckland, and previously running her own store in grey lynn, she originally was a painter and has a BA Visual Arts
This is a unique chance to learn old school techniques and a craft that is not so commonly done by hand anymore.
Students will get their own re-useable stencil to keep, along with a few sample patches of their print.
