Step into your design: unpacking future possibilities of retail for people and planet

Event description

This workshop is a collaboration with Crowd Productions

Did you know that by physically engaging with a space uses way more of your available brain to solve problems than if you relied on drawing or brainstorming? In this workshop we will imagine possible futures in retail that solve problems for people and the planet while interacting with full-scale prototypes of retail spaces that you can move, change and re-imagine. Using everyday objects to prototype and test spaces, we will explore imagined futures at different stages of the retail journey that address topics like "what if there was no waste?" and "how might community members learn more about how products are created?"

This workshop will be run at BETA by STH BNK in Southbank in an exciting regenerative living lab environment.

In this fun, hands-on session, you'll:

  • Learn how to easily prototype spaces and scenarios with very few props
  • Learn how powerful bodystorming can be compared to brainstorming
  • Experience how using space, performance and immersion can unlock innovation throughout the retail journey
  • Help contribute to possible futures for retailers connected to BETA by STH BNK.
  • Learn how to apply the techniques you learn to solve your own problems and imagine futures

Who this session is for:

Techniques covered in this session will be valuable for anyone trying to make improvements or create change in their role. Yes, that's pretty much everyone - you definitely don't have to be a designer!

More about BETA by STH BNK

BETA By STH BNK is a revolutionary testing area to explore the future of retail space, programming and new business models.

We live in an age of turbulence and ecological uncertainty. We are conscious consumers who seek meaning; yet the places where we shop are no longer fit for purpose. We want experiences rather than transactions, circularity instead of waste, the way forward not the past. Welcome to BETA By STH BNK, a revolutionary testing area for the future.

Merging physical and digital, art and technology, design and data, BETA By STH BNK takes over an abandoned city building at the STH BNK site and transforms it into a dynamic lab platforming an ecosystem of experiences that celebrate individuality, diversity and creative expression. https://sthbnk.com/events/
