STEP NSW Emerging Professionals Network | Wednesday 25 November 2026

STEP NSW Branch invites you to the next Emerging Professionals Network event, to be held on Wednesday 25 November 2026 at JustFund, Sydney.

The EPN’s focus is to foster engagement among professionals by providing opportunities to meet and exchange ideas in an informal networking environment. 

The EPN is open to all professional advisors, educators and students with a trusts and estates focus in their practice (including legal, accounting, financial services and trust company backgrounds), whether for private or corporate clients.

With a focus on knowledge sharing and networking amongst emerging trust and estate professionals, this will be an interactive and inclusive event. 

ABOUT THE EVENT

The evening will include a presentation from Jennifer McMillan, Manager, Practice Support Services, Lawcover on the topic of ‘Traps for executors and their advisors’.

This session will look at risks facing executors, and how best to manage and avoid those risks. In particular, the session will focus on:

• Tax traps in estate administration

• Estates where there has been an active power of attorney

• Adjustment clauses

• Bankrupt beneficiaries

• Cyber fraud

ABOUT THE PRESENTER | Jennifer McMillan

Jen McMillan is Manager, Practice Support Services with Lawcover. She was admitted to practice in New South Wales in 1989 and in Western Australia in 1992. She is a Law Society of NSW Accredited Specialist in Wills and Estates and a member of STEP. She has experience in private practice, in-house with a trustee company, as an academic in the College of Law’s LLM (Applied Law) program and as a former Senior Member in the Guardianship Division of NCAT. She is a member of the NSW Law Society’s Property Law Committee and of its Elder Law Succession & Capacity Committee.
