STEP NSW Branch invites you to a special event with Equity Trustees.
The evening will be hosted at The Establishment in Sydney and will feature a lecture with Chris Holloway, Senior Manager Tax, concluding with networking and refreshments.

    Topic: Death and Taxes

Whilst Australia and the states abolished death duties in 1981, this was in name only.  Australia’s current tax system is full of hidden taxes imposed on estates and inheritances.

Understanding that choices made by testators, executors and beneficiaries can have major tax consequences is an important step in working with an inheritance from a deceased estate.  Managing these tax consequences can reduce or eliminate unnecessary taxes and increase the overall value of a beneficiary’s inheritance.

    Session topics include:

    · Taxing non-resident and charitable beneficiary inheritances

    · Inherited Assets and Capital Gains Tax

    · Main-residence CGT Exemption

    · Superannuation Death Benefit Tax
