Event description

Join us for "Step Together," a community walk to reconnect with each other and nature and celebrate the reopening of the beautiful Cascade Kauri Walk in the Waitākere Ranges.

Let’s venture together into Cascade Kauri, home to some of Aotearoa's most ancient and treasured kauri trees 🌳 An opportunity to reconnect with nature and each other, in a place where history and the present merge.

The 4km trail, reopened after extensive restoration, including new boardwalks and washing stations. Let’s learn more about the ongoing battle against kauri dieback disease and how we can contribute to protect our Kauri forest giants on our outdoor adventures. 🚶‍♀️🍃.

Join us on this special walk, where every step is a step towards conservation and community. Let’s embrace the beauty of Cascade Kauri together, honouring our responsibility to these "lungs of our city" 💚.

What you can expect:

🌳 Hear from Park Ranger, Riki Bennett on the work Auckland Council has been doing to combat Kauri Dieback

🌳 Treat yourself and feel the benefits of walking and engaging with nature

🌳 An opportunity to meet and bond with fellow nature enthusiasts

Important note:

Please be aware that as part of our event, we will explore only a section of the track. It's important to note that the track includes quite a few steps, so a reasonable fitness level and the ability to walk comfortably are required. After about 45 minutes of walking, we'll gather for a moment of sharing and reflection. Following this, participants will have the choice to either continue their journey along the track or turn back. This flexible approach ensures everyone can enjoy the experience at their own pace.
