Workshop 1 - Stepping Forward

Are you confident in recognising and responding to situations that may place vulnerable people at risk?
Stepping Forward is an essential training program designed to help carers, support workers and disability professionals build the knowledge, skills and confidence to create safer, more supportive environments for those in their care.
✅ Recognise signs and indicators of abuse, violence and unsafe situations
✅ Respond safely and appropriately to concerns or disclosures
✅ Promote choice, dignity, consent and respect in everyday practice
✅ Strengthen protective practices that reduce vulnerability
✅ Connect people with appropriate services and supports
This practical and engaging training empowers participants to support the safety, wellbeing and rights of the people they work with and care for.
Eligibility requirements:
You must be a disability carer who provides unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have a disability; or a support worker/ disability professional that works or volunteers in the disability sector.
Workshop 2 - Speaking Out
Date: Monday, 3 August 2026
Time: 10am to 1pm
Venue: Cafe On Corporation, 9 Corporation Ave, Robin Hill NSW 2795
Cost: Fully-funded (lunch provided)
Everyone has the right to feel safe, respected, and heard.
Speaking Out is an engaging and empowering workshop designed to help people with intellectual disability understand their personal rights, recognise safe and unsafe situations, and know where to go for support when they need it.
Participants will learn:
✅ My body belongs to me
✅ What feels OK and what does not feel OK
✅ How feelings and body clues can help keep us safe
✅ The right to say yes, no, or stop
✅ Who I can tell and where I can get help
Delivered in a safe, supportive environment, Speaking Out uses a trauma-informed approach and does not require participants to share personal experiences or disclosures.
This workshop helps build confidence, self-advocacy skills, personal safety awareness, and an understanding of individual rights, empowering participants to make informed choices and seek support when needed.

For people with intellectual disability & their carers/support workers
